Nairobi’s Transformation Gains Momentum Under Sakaja Delivery Unit

Ongoing transformation

Nairobi is steadily changing its face, with visible improvements across key sectors driven by the Sakaja Delivery Unit under Governor Johnson Sakaja’s administration.

From cleaner streets to improved infrastructure, the county government has intensified efforts to restore order and efficiency in the capital. The Sakaja Delivery Unit, established to fast-track service delivery, has been central in coordinating projects and ensuring accountability across departments.

One of the most noticeable transformations is in waste management. Areas that were once characterized by uncollected garbage are now seeing regular clean-ups, with garbage collection systems becoming more structured and consistent. This has significantly improved public health conditions and enhanced the city’s image.

Infrastructure development has also taken center stage. Roads within estates and major access routes are undergoing repairs and upgrades, easing movement for residents and businesses. The county has also focused on unclogging drainage systems, a move that has helped reduce flooding during heavy rains.

In the transport sector, efforts to streamline operations have brought some order to previously chaotic stages. The introduction of designated pick-up and drop-off points is helping decongest the Central Business District, improving both mobility and safety.

Additionally, the revitalization of public spaces is giving Nairobians a renewed sense of pride. Parks, walkways, and recreational areas are being rehabilitated, making them safer and more accessible for residents.

The Sakaja Delivery Unit has also embraced technology to monitor progress and ensure efficiency. Through data-driven approaches, the county government is able to track project implementation and respond swiftly to emerging challenges.

Despite these gains, challenges remain. Rapid urbanization, population pressure, and limited resources continue to strain service delivery. However, the ongoing reforms signal a commitment to long-term transformation.

As Nairobi continues to evolve, residents are beginning to experience the impact of structured governance and focused leadership, positioning the city on a path toward becoming a cleaner, more organized, and livable urban center.
