UDA candidate David Keter has emerged victorious in the party nominations for the upcoming Emurua Dikirr by-election, giving the ruling party confidence ahead of the main contest.

Speaking after the exercise, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar said the party remains strong and focused despite political criticism and surveys from opponents.

“That’s a con woman. So they are trying to stage manage. But, you see, we have our data,” said Hassan Omar while dismissing opinion polls he claimed were misleading.

Hassan Omar also touched on the rising cost of living, saying global fuel prices and supply challenges have affected many countries across the world.

“The prices definitely are affected. And yet, because of the government, our security of supply is secure,” he said.

He further defended government interventions aimed at reducing the burden on wananchi, noting that subsidies and tax reductions helped moderate fuel price hikes.

David Keter’s win now sets the stage for a heated by-election battle as UDA intensifies campaigns in Emurua Dikirr.
