In the statement dated May 28, 2026, the youth leaders dismissed President Ruto’s recent criticism of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying the Head of State was looking for a scapegoat instead of taking responsibility for the country’s challenges.
Led by Jubilee National Youth Chair CPA Angel Mbuthia, the group accused the government of presiding over what they termed as “failure, death and impunity,” claiming that Kenyans are facing a high cost of living, collapsing healthcare systems, unemployment, delayed salaries, and insecurity.
The statement further linked the government to alleged abductions and police brutality against Gen Z protesters, saying many young people who came out to demand accountability were met with violence instead of dialogue.
The youth leaders also criticized the government’s affordable housing programme, taxation policies, and labour export initiatives, arguing that many Kenyan youths continue to suffer despite promises of empowerment and economic transformation.
Speaking through the statement, Jubilee Youth Chair Angel Mbuthia said the current administration had betrayed the hopes of many young Kenyans.
“We know your handwriting and your character. Stop looking for a scapegoat in President Uhuru Kenyatta. Your house is on fire,” said Mbuthia in the fiery statement directed at President Ruto.
Mbuthia further claimed that the government had failed to address the real struggles facing ordinary Kenyans including unemployment, unaffordable basic commodities, and insecurity.
“You have turned Kenya into a morgue of broken dreams. You have slaughtered the hopes of a generation and called it stabilisation,” the statement read in part.
The Jubilee youth leadership maintained that young people across the country are becoming more politically conscious and will use their voices to demand accountability from leaders ahead of the next General Election.
The statement comes amid rising political tensions between allies of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and supporters of President William Ruto, with both sides trading accusations over the state of the economy and governance.
Jubilee youth officials insisted that Kenya’s challenges cannot be solved through blame games and political attacks, urging leaders to focus on restoring public trust and improving the livelihoods of citizens, especially the youth.
